I'd say I have a pretty good relationship with my parents now. Growing up as a kid I was never really 'close' to my dad and when I was in my early teens, I'd be out all the time doing God knows what like drinking on the streets, so I had a pretty bad relationship with them both then. I'd always be getting into trouble for drinking etc so I'd be grounded for about a month at a time, in which I'd just stay up in my room on the internet for most of the day. And if I wasn't grounded, when I'd get home at about 10pm, I'd either go straight to bed or again, stay in my room and be on the internet. I tended to get embarrassed if I was out with my family and saw people I knew then as well. However, in about Year 10/early Year 11, I decided that I was getting bored with roaming the streets all day and night so I'd just stay in when I got in from school and occasionally go out on a Friday or Saturday. After that started happening, I came slightly closer to my mum. Or rather, we'd stop arguing less. I still wasn't that close to my dad until about Spring 2011 where I discovered The Beatles. The Beatles have been one of my dad's favourite bands since he was a kid, so that gave us something to bond over. It's weird now seeing how alike we are, especially with music taste. He used to (and still does sometimes) listen to Johnny Cash, Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Elvis Presley, The Beatles, The Doors, Oasis and more and I also listen and love them band now too. I'm not extremely close to my parents because I've never had that kind of 'best friend' relationship with either any of my family. I still argue a hell of a lot with my parents, especially with my mum and both of them and my sister get on my nerves 24/7, but I do love all my family tons and although they don't think so, I am extremely grateful for everything they've done for me and my sister and I know I'll miss them when I move away for university.
